Description

"The Rock Garden is the story of a man trying to save his soul, having, however, a strong awareness that others around him are fighting for their lives and ask him to join them. Perhaps no other work of Nikos Kazantzakis not so close to give us the full measure of the spiritual struggle, as this novel, written at the height of violent conflict between Japan and China. "

(On the English version of Nikos Kazantzakis, The Rock Garden, Simon and Schuster, New York 1963.)
Nikos Kazantzakis wrote the rock garden directly in French, the language in which was to be issued in 1959, two years after his death. The Greek version includes, apart from the text of the novel, Preface and Note Pantelis Prevelakis, who translated it into Greek.
