A modern approach to teaching rhythm and melody "The book of music reading" promotes through a modern pedagogical point of view the holistic teaching of solfeggio. The main goal of the book is that the teaching of solfeggio should be enjoyable and connected with the "real" world of music. For this reason, from the first to the last exercise, the phraseology and the dynamics are used and small and independent melodies are created, while along with the exercises, examples from classical, Greek traditional but also jazz and ethnic music are incorporated. The material covers four issues of graded difficulty which follows the respective eight levels (grades) of the English system but also introduces some substantial innovations. Already from the first issue: - tropical and pentatonic scales are used the Sol, Fa and Do keys are entered - mixed rhythms from the Greek traditional music are incorporated - the concept of tetrachords is strengthened - scales alternate with dips and recesses and most importantly - rhythmic syllables are used to establish a solid sense of rhythm.
