The second edition, in collaboration with the TEI of Epirus is a contribution to the bibliography of rebetiko song and includes: a. a practical guide to understanding the tropical character of compositions recorded on scores b. the recording of a significant number of recordings (201 songs) of the interwar period, concerning compositions of the urban repertoire All the famous composers of the time: Grigoris Asikis Markos Vamvakaris, Dimitris Gogos (Bagianteras), Anestis Delias, Antonis Diamantidis (Dalgas), Giannis Dragatsis (Ogdontakis), Costas Karipos, A. Katas (Monk) , George Batis, Stavros Pantelidis, Vangelis Papazoglou, Spyros Peristeris, Costas Roukounas, Dimitris Semsis, Costas Skarvelis, Costas Tzovenos, Panagiotis Tountas, Giovan Tsaous, Vassilis Tsitsanis, E. are represented in this selection, which is based on criteria of both aesthetics and the emergence of particular melodic developments. This musical material is of course not unknown, but for the first time it is systematically approached through the theoretical system of the makams. This methodological originality aims at highlighting the tropical character of the compositions, through the analysis and codification of their melodic structures.
