Comics are a mastered visual art, the ninth in a series, that has kept thousands of children and adults, lovers of reading, company. Many great works of world literature have won children's hearts transformed into comics. It is not difficult to understand that the combination of words and images is what brings the narrative to life and beckons the reader to enjoy it. Stavros Tzanis' idea of transforming meaningful phrases of the great Cretan writer into a poetic text, in the vernacular of Crete and in the tempo of the mantinada, is very original. We have every reason to be happy about this book and we are convinced that Nikos Kazantzakis would feel the same satisfaction if he read these exceptional verses that "bring together" with the gentle images, of the masterful design and color palette of the painter Stelios Prinaris. The great author would be happy, above all, because he himself was a lover of the culture and language of Crete, the place that gave him birth and its presence is strong throughout his work, but also because this illustrated work is addressed to the children, whom he loved so much. All the contributors to the publication deserve every praise, but especially a modest round of applause is due to Manolis Velivasakis, our compatriot who, although he lives in America, is so close to our Crete. We were very moved when he announced that he was donating the copyright of the publication to the International Society of Friends of Nikos Kazantzakis. We all thank him from the bottom of our hearts and wish the book a safe journey through the Kazantzaki world.
