PSATHA DESPINA / ROSA ESKENAZY - PRE-WAR REBETIC AND TRADITIONAL SONGS

Rosa Eskenazy was a great singer of rebetiko song, with a long career and a rich discography which contained in addition to rebetika songs and a large number of traditional. This edition is a critical study which includes a total of forty scores: twenty scores from the rebetiko repertoire of the pre-war period (1931-1937) and twenty from the traditional repertoire, which are divided into ten pre-war (1933-1938) and ten post-war repertoire. (1954- 1955). Each song is accompanied by a second score which includes variations of the melody, as they were done by the singer. The conclusions that emerged from this recording are related to the voice, technique, interpretation and evolution of the artist, during the 25 years that the study examined.
